5 Ways to Choose Your Perfect Celebrant
So how do you choose your perfect celebrant? This is the 50 million dollar question. I can’t tell you the amount of times I have seen this question posted on one of the bridal Facebook pages. And it’s worth putting in the time to find one that suits you rather than just doing a google search for the cheapest celebrant near you.
Now I may. be a little bias but a great celebrant is the key to your successful wedding day. A great celebrant puts you and your partner. at ease, sets the vibe and. most importantly gets you hitched.. I mean that’s what the wedding is all about isn’t it?
Rather than answer this question myself (which would be very weird), I asked some of my previous brides what was their criteria when looking for their perfect celebrant (which ended up being. me lol). The list is in no specific order as everyones priorities are different.
1. Pricing
Now if you are on a budget this is very important. If you do your research you will see that celebrant fees vary widely as there is no regulatory body for this aspect. Prices range anywhere from $350 to $2500…yep that’s right. Now let me bust myth No 1 …. the most expensive is not necessarily the best or the most experienced. In saying that, the cheapest is not always the best choice just so it can fit into your budget. If you find a celebrant who ticks boxes 2-5 then spend the extra, you won’t regret it. Compared to what you will spend on other vendors like photographers and hair and makeup, celebrant fees are still one of your least expensive outlays.
2. Vibe
Do you want relaxed? Fun? Formal? Alternate? This is an important consideration as you don’t want Funny Freddy standing up there telling naughty jokes when you’re wanting a traditional ceremony. Make sure your vibe matches with your celebrant’s style. Have a chat with them to find this out before you book them. I offer a no-obligation meet and greet for this very reason.
3. Experience
Now experience does count in the ceremony space. Like any profession, the more you do something the better you get at it. With over 150 weddings under my belt I know my experience ensures that I :
Move out of the way for all the special photo moments (No photo bombing the kiss shot)
Provide tips and tricks to help the ceremony flow better
Put you and your partner at ease (because I am calm in my own ability)
Efficient and precise with the legal side of things
4. Recommendations
How other couples have enjoyed the celebrant’s services and why helps. you in your search for your celebrant. Look for the key attributes that you are looking for be it personal, professional, caring, funny, Feel free to check out my reviews on my Facebook page.
5. Availability
I know this is very obvious but another consideration is how many other ceremonies do they have on your special day. I mean you don’t want your celebrant rushing off to another wedding and rushing through your ceremony particularly if you were running a little late (as brides do lol). I only do one wedding a day for this reason because for me you are my priority for your day.
I hope you find these considerations helpful and please reach out if I can help in any way.
